Fan shapes: YY, W, spike & wispy
Shape is what your client actually sees. The same D count and curl can read soft and woven or dense and dark depending on how the fan is built — so the shape decides the texture and finish of the whole set.
YY fans
A two-tip Y structure — each strand splits into a paired tip, so the fan reads as an open, woven texture rather than a solid block. Lighter on the eye, great for soft volume and natural-looking density without heaviness.
W fans
Three- or four-point fans built to a W silhouette. Tips sit closer together for dense, dark coverage and a fuller line — the go-to when a client wants obvious volume and a strong lash band.
Spike fans
Spiky, wet-look fans with defined separated tips — the Kim-K / textured-spike finish. Used on their own or mixed into a set to break up the line and add edge and dimension.
Wispy / mixed
Alternating lengths within and across fans for a feathered, airy finish. Movement and gaps are intentional — the look is lived-in and soft rather than uniform.
